Common Fails

Learn from 20+ years of watching sites crash and burn

These are the mistakes I've watched hundreds of webmasters make. Some lost months of work. Some lost thousands of dollars. Some faced legal trouble.

You don't have to learn these lessons the hard way. Read this page. Avoid these fails. Skip straight to what works.

Fail #1

Ignoring SEO

"Build it and they will come." This worked in 2003. Not anymore.

What Actually Happens:

No backlinks = invisible to Google = no traffic = no money. You spend 6 months building a perfect site that gets 12 visitors/day.

How to Fix It:

Read our SEO guide cover to cover. Submit to directories. Build backlinks systematically. SEO is not optional—it's the foundation.

Fail #2

Wrong Hosting

You picked the cheapest option or what you knew from regular websites.

What Actually Happens:

Site gets taken down without warning. Data lost. Google ranking destroyed. Starting over from zero after 8 months of work.

How to Fix It:

Use adult-friendly hosting from day 1. It costs $10/month more but saves you from catastrophic loss. Don't learn this lesson the hard way.

Fail #3

Too Many Ads, Too Soon

You want to monetize immediately. Every blank space looks like wasted money.

What Actually Happens:

Site has 50 visitors/day but 8 ad placements. Visitors leave instantly, never return. Your $0.50/day in revenue cost you all future organic growth.

How to Fix It:

Start with 1-2 tasteful ad placements. Scale ads WITH traffic, not before it. A clean site that converts visitors into regulars is worth 100x more.

Fail #4

Copying Content

Creating original content is hard. Downloading from Pornhub is easy.

What Actually Happens:

DMCA takedown notices flood your inbox. Google penalizes your site. Hosting account suspended. Possible lawsuit. All traffic gone overnight.

How to Fix It:

Use licensed content, affiliate feeds, or create original content. Stealing is not a business model—it's a countdown timer to failure.

Fail #5

No Niche

"I'll have everything! More content = more traffic!" Sounds logical. It's not.

What Actually Happens:

You can't compete with Pornhub for "porn." You have zero authority, zero backlinks, zero chance. Traffic stays flatlined at 100/day forever.

How to Fix It:

Pick ONE niche. Own it completely. A site ranking #1 for "petite redheads" makes more than a general site ranking #500 for "porn."

Fail #6

Buying Fake Traffic

"$5 for 10,000 visitors!" Patience is hard. Instant numbers feel good.

What Actually Happens:

All bots. Analytics look great, revenue stays zero. Affiliate networks detect the fraud and permanently ban your account. No second chances.

How to Fix It:

Every shortcut ends badly. Invest those $5 into real SEO instead. Slow growth beats fake numbers every single time.

Fail #7

Buying Cheap Backlinks

"1000 backlinks for $20!" SEO is about numbers, right? More backlinks = better ranking?

What Actually Happens:

All spam links from Russian gambling sites. Google detects it within weeks. Manual penalty. Recovery takes 6-12 months if you're lucky.

How to Fix It:

Earn real backlinks from directories, exchanges, and relevant sites. Quality over quantity. One good link beats 1000 spam links.

Fail #8

No Legal Pages

Legal stuff is boring. You'll add it "later." Nobody reads those pages anyway.

What Actually Happens:

One DMCA complaint or 2257 audit = instant legal trouble. Fines start at $5,000. Hosting suspended. Domain seized. Criminal charges possible.

How to Fix It:

Add 2257 compliance, DMCA policy, age verification, and privacy policy TODAY. This is not optional. Protect yourself before you need protection.

Fail #9

Using PayPal or Stripe

They're familiar. You use them for everything else. Adult is just another category, right?

What Actually Happens:

Account detected and banned. Funds frozen for 180 days. All your revenue locked. No warning, no appeal, no exceptions. They do NOT work for adult.

How to Fix It:

CCBill or Epoch from day 1 if you're selling anything. Don't learn this lesson by losing $3,000 in frozen funds.

Fail #10

Giving Up Too Fast

No traffic after 6 weeks. This must not be working. Time to try something else.

What Actually Happens:

SEO takes 3-6 months minimum. Most people quit at month 2, right before results appear. Success goes to those who stick around for month 12.

How to Fix It:

Set realistic expectations. Track progress monthly, not daily. The grind is part of the process. Winners are just losers who didn't quit.

Fail #11

Ignoring Mobile

You built the site on your desktop. It looks perfect on your 27-inch monitor.

What Actually Happens:

70%+ of adult traffic is mobile. Your desktop-only site is unusable on phones. You're losing the majority of potential visitors immediately.

How to Fix It:

Mobile-first design. Test on actual phones, not just browser resize. If it doesn't work perfectly on a phone, it doesn't work.

Fail #12

No Email List

Social media is easier. Why deal with email software?

What Actually Happens:

Twitter/X bans adult accounts randomly. Instagram shadow-bans. TikTok deletes. Algorithm changes destroy your reach. Your "audience" disappears overnight.

How to Fix It:

Start collecting emails from day 1. It's the only audience you truly own. Platforms change, algorithms change—your email list stays yours.

Fail #13

Not Tracking Anything

Analytics setup is boring. You just want to build. Numbers come later.

What Actually Happens:

Flying blind. Don't know what works, what doesn't, where traffic comes from, what converts. Making decisions based on feelings instead of data.

How to Fix It:

Install analytics immediately. Track everything. Revenue attribution, traffic sources, user behavior. You can't improve what you don't measure.

Fail #14

Doing Everything Alone

Outsourcing costs money. You can do it yourself. How hard can it be?

What Actually Happens:

Working 16 hours/day. Burning out after 4 months. Hate the business you built. Quit before seeing results. All that work for nothing.

How to Fix It:

Automate repetitive tasks. Outsource what you're bad at. Your time is worth money. Focus on what only you can do.

Fail #15

Chasing Trends

Tube sites are dead, cams are hot. Wait, premium is back. Actually clips sites. No wait, NFTs!

What Actually Happens:

Jump from model to model every 2 months. Never stick with anything long enough to succeed. Perpetually starting over. Zero progress after 2 years.

How to Fix It:

Pick ONE business model. Commit for 12 months minimum. Master it completely before considering anything else. Depth beats breadth.

Keep Learning

Now that you know what NOT to do, learn what DOES work.
